About Galapagos Islands

Off the coast of Ecuador, the Galapagos archipelago consists of 21 islands with 18 being main.  It’s situated on the Nazca plate and is a volcanic hotspot.  The youngest island, Isabela, has 5 volcanoes, together with Sierra Negra, probably the most energetic within the Galapagos.   The Galapagos Nationwide Park and Marine Reserve shield the land and water for analysis and conservation.  The islands’ vegetation is generally semi-desert with shrubs, grasslands and dry forests.  Nonetheless, some islands have highlands with extra rain and cooler temperatures.

If Quito is your gateway, make sure to schedule time to discover Quito if you are right here. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Web site and close to volcanoes, the Amazon and cloud forests.  Total, Quito is rather more than only a gateway to the Galapagos.

This journey actually was flawless.  The whole lot went tremendous easily, and I liked each minute of it.  There’s a lot planning concerned with island hopping within the Galapagos, it was good to only benefit from the journey and let another person deal with all of this.

Nonetheless, I did miss out on 2 snorkeling websites that I very a lot remorse.  Looking back, I want that I had deliberate to reach a day or 2 early in San Cristobal to snorkel at Kicker Rock by myself.  Additionally, I might have added a pair days on the finish to return to Isabela and spend extra time, notably on the Los Túneles.  Each Kicker Rock on San Cristobal and Los Tuneles in Isabela are thought of the most effective snorkeling and diving spots in Galapagos.  Nicely, I assume that’s my excuse to return to the Galapagos.
